Very Helpful
By Cygnet
I teacher ESL (English as a Second Language). One of the biggest challenges for my students is American pronunciation. I have spend a fair amount of time researching how to teach the American accent and I think this book is very good. It explains in plain American English what we do to words when we talk. Passing this on to my students and having them practice the techniques makes a big difference in both their understanding native English speakers when we talk and being understood by native speakers.

All you need to teach pronunciation!
By Wayne Hill
Great stuff! I teach an ESL intermediate level pronunciation class at NYU. Along with Linda Lane's 3-level "Focus on Pronunciation" series, these two texts have been all I have needed to teach a complete syllabus of pronunciation issues. I really enjoy the clarity and comprehensiveness of these texts. Thanks to Stacy, Patricia and Linda.

Practical help for struggling immigrants
By Elaine Dow
Vietnamese immigrants asked me to help them speak English so that they can be more fully understood. We started with simple conversation, but I soon realized that I needed something more structured that would help them focus on the sounds they did not hear or did not say. This book has been a great help in giving structure to the sessions and in producing positive results for these new friends.
